The 15-strong Faaji Drummers of Nigeria are the real stars of Nigerian music and one of the most unique groups in world music today. They produce the fire that burns shows by stars like of Chief Ebenezer Obey, King Sunny Ade, King Wasiu Ayinde, Queen Salawa Abeni, Femi Kuti, Lagbaja and all the great artists of Nigerian music. Without the talking drummers Nigerian music falls flat on its face.

Members of the Faaji Drummers of Nigeria command the utmost respect in Nigeria. They provide the rhythms that make Nigerian music unique in the world. Whether it is juju music of King Sunny Ade or fuji music of King Wasiu Ayinde the talking drummers are at the top of everything. Without the talking drummers Nigerian music lacks spark and invention that makes it so unique. Seeing Faaji Drummers of Nigeria live is one of the wonders of world music.

The Faaji Drummers of Africa present the most authentic Yoruba music with a family of talking drums including omele, atele and gudugudu. Other instruments include Iya Ilu, gangan, bata, sekere and agogo. The drummers are supported by vocalists Funmi Olawumi, Yinka Ekudayo and Nike Fagbuaro.

The 15-piece group, The Faaji Drummers of Nigeria was put together by music producer Biyi Adepegba, singer Funmi Olawumi and talking drummer Ayanlere Alajede for the Millennium Celebration. Their performance on that night confirmed the band's instant status as the pride of Nigeria.
