King Wasiu Ayinde

The undisputed King of Nigerian Fuji music and creator of Afric's most explosive dance music King Wasiu Ayinde started playing music when he was just 13 years old. One of his early influences was the founder of Fuji music Sikiru Ayinde Barrister to the extent that he started to call himself Wasiu Ayinde Barrister.
By the time Wasiu started his own band, he was known locally as "Mr Talazo" because of his mother's famous medical remedy recommended to purge and "shake yourself free" of illness. Because Wasiu wanted his audience to shake and dance to his music he created the up tempo style of Fuji music, making people dance faster, this became known as the famous Talazo Fuji.
Wasiu has recorded over 40 albums and 10 CDs in a career spanning 27 years, he has also extensively toured around the world playing to packed venues in cities like Amsterdam, Paris, London, Naples, Cologne, Milan, New York, Chicago, Ontario, Toronto and many more. Among his many awards are FAME musician of the year, best Fuji artist at the NMA ( Nigeria Music Awards) and best African artist at the WOMAD Festival in Reading 1996.
In 1994, Wasiu was crowned the King of Fuji music, and re-christened King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal the first (KWAM 1) by the King of Oyo in the historical city of Ibadan in the western region of Nigeria, and after his Italian tour in 1995 he was dubbed 'Capo Di Tutti'.
Most recently, he was given the royal title of Oluomo of Lagos by His Royal Majesty, the King of Lagos , King Adeyinka Oyekan II.
